The best news ever!

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

(John 3:16)

God made man in His image. God is spirit. He formed mankind out of the dust of the ground and breathed life into them. Men and women are spiritual beings who are His image-bearers in the natural realm. Humankind rebelled against their Creator, have become sinful and separated from Him, and are in need of salvation.

Our good deeds cannot wipe away our sin. That’s why Jesus had to do for us what we could not do for ourselves: He lived a sinless life and died the sinner’s death on our behalf. After three days He rose again, triumphing over sin and death for us. This very good news – what He has done on our behalf – is called the Gospel.

Salvation is about trusting Jesus. It’s about recognising our sinfulness and embracing His substitutionary work. Holy Spirit helps us believe the Gospel and does the saving. He gives us eternal life and comes to live in us, having promised to never leave us, no matter what.

What just happened? The Bible teaches us that believing in Jesus transforms us because Holy Spirit places us in Christ and He comes to live within us. We are now in Christ and Christ is in us. We are new creations, with a new identity and a new nature. We are children of God who can live to please Him.
